What began as a simple idea to bring holiday cheer to children has transformed into one of our most meaningful traditions. The 4th Annual Holiday Toy Drive didn’t just bring toys to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas; it brought communities together, created connections, and left a lasting impact. As we look back on this incredible journey, we’re reminded that the true power of the season lies in what we can do together.
The Power of Community and Giving
The success of this year’s Toy Drive is a testament to the strength of collective generosity. Individuals, local businesses, and our team worked hand-in-hand to make this year’s effort extraordinary. From hosting collection boxes to spreading the word, every contribution played a vital role in what we accomplished together.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, 54 local businesses joined us hosting collection boxes. We were able to collect and deliver over 2,400 toys—filling 64 boxes—to the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Imagine the joy on children's faces as they discovered toy cars, dolls, games, and puzzles, this holiday season. For children facing medical challenges, these toys offer a moment of joy and a reminder that they are surrounded by care and support.
A Day of Giving
The highlight of the Toy Drive came on December 20th, when our team gathered to deliver the toys. With a 26 ft U-Haul packed to the brim, we arrived at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas ready to spread joy. The Jym and Jay Maymi from The Jay Maymi Talk Show joined us for the event, adding their energy and passion to the effort, while volunteer photographer Stephen Boutwell captured the essence of the event with photographs.
We were warmly welcomed by the Child Life team, whose dedication ensured that every toy would bring comfort and joy to the children. It wasn’t just about delivering gifts—it was about showing that they are seen, valued, and supported by their community. These moments remind us why this initiative holds such a special place in our hearts.
Why We Do It
The Holiday Toy Drive is more than just an event—it’s a reflection of our values. We understand that our success is rooted in the communities we serve. Giving back is not an obligation; it’s a privilege and a responsibility we embrace wholeheartedly. The holiday season, in particular, is a time to come together and support those who need it most.
This initiative is inspired by a deeply personal story within our Mayan Technologies family. One of our own experienced the challenges of spending Christmas and several other occasions in the hospital with their child. The presence of toys during that time made an unforgettable impact. It’s that memory—the power of a simple gesture—that drives us to ensure other families feel supported and uplifted during the holiday season.
